The festival showcasing experimental performing arts returns
First held in 2010, Kyoto Experiment is a performing arts festival held annually in and around the city of Kyoto. Presenting and producing cutting-edge, experimental performances from across the world, the festival aspires to create new forms of dialogue between art and society. Its interdisciplinary lineup brings together theatre, dance, music, visual art, design, architecture, and more, in the process pioneering new possibilities through the creativity, experiences, and ideas that emerge.
After its edition in early spring 2021, this autumn festival comprises three programs: Shows, featuring work by some of the most exciting artists in Japan and beyond; Kansai Studies, which conducts research with artists into Kyoto and the Kansai region to build a foundation for future creativity; and Super Knowledge for the Future [SKF], a series of talks and workshops for coming into contact with cutting-edge ideas not limited to the performing arts and in formats different from watching a performance.
