Kronos Quartet
Based in San Francisco, the Kronos Quartet has combined its pursuit of new possibilities as a string quartet with a spirit of bold exploration ever since it was first founded in 1973. As one of the most famous and influential ensembles in the world, it has given thousands of concerts, released over sixty albums, and created, performed, and recorded over a thousand string quartet pieces with composers, artists, and multimedia artists that incorporate elements from various genre. Its more than forty accolades include two Grammy Awards, the world-renowned Polar Music Prize, Avery Fisher Prize, and WOMEX Artist Award.
