Ensemble Kujoyama

This contemporary music ensemble was formed in 2010 by the composer Valerio Sannicandro while he was staying at Villa Kujoyama, a French institution in Kyoto established in 1992 and run in partnership by the Institut français du Japon and its Paris headquarters as its only artist residency facility in Asia. The ensemble started its performer-led activities in 2015, featuring contemporary music specialists boasting careers at home and abroad, and also working as soloists in their own right. In addition to world premieres of works created in collaboration with many composers, its wide-ranging activities have included Shakespeare adaptations, and continue to attract much attention.
