Get the most out of ROHM Theatre Kyoto with friends and family during the summer holidays. This two-day program of events for all ages includes backstage tours, workshops for kids, children’s book readings, outdoor performances, and a market.

Theatre Open Days for the Young and Old
From adults to kids, everyone can have fun at ROHM Theatre Kyoto on these open days. Wander freely around parts of the theatre normally off limits to the general public, and also try the backstage tours led by theatre staff as well as special tours for kids with music and dance.

★ROHM Theatre Kyoto Backstage Tour with Theatre Manager
See parts of ROHM Theatre Kyoto normally out of bounds to the public with this tour personally led by theatre manager Yota Kegayama.

★Cosmic Traveling Theatre Tour
This theatre tour is for all ages, from children to adults, and follows a similar event in January that was a big success. Theatre attendants will take participants around the theatre like they are on a journey around space! Along the way, enjoy performances, songs and dance!

Cool Children’s Disco

A kids’ disco appears in the North Hall underneath ROHM Theatre Kyoto! Children become DJs and take part in dance workshops, and the youngsters’ DJ music then becomes the soundtrack for the dancing. Fun summer memories for all ages at ROHM Theatre Kyoto!

★Yoga for Parents and Kids
Instructor: Kyoko Nobuchi
A yoga lesson for parents and children. Learn to move your body and communicate, and refresh your mind and body!
For all ages (children and adults)
Fee: free, priority given to reservations
Duration: approx. 60 minutes
Please wear clothes that are easy to move in. Yoga mats cannot be used.

★DJ Experience for Children
Create original music with real DJ equipment and help from a professional. Express yourself freely with sound!

Fee: free, no reservations required
Duration: approx. 60 minutes

★Children’s Dance Workshop
Fun for all, dancing anyhow you like!
Instructor: Masako Yasumoto (dancer, choreographer)

★Cool Kids’ Disco
Kids and adults, dance with all your body to the groovy music!

This festival market is ideal for children to explore. It also features a special play area where visitors can try Magformers, a series of magnetic construction kits by Bornelund.

★Decorate the Milky Way! Washi Dyeing Workshop
This accessible workshop suitable for children lets you dye Japanese paper (washi) with any colors you want. Learn how to fold and apply dyes to the paper. Make your own book covers and more!

Theatre Tours
As preview events for the summer holidays program, two other kinds of theatre tours are available for different needs.

★ROHM Theatre Kyoto Architecture Tour
An architecture tour by a member of staff from Hisao Koyama’s architecture firm, which led the main planning for the theatre’s renovation work. This is an ideal opportunity for architecture enthusiasts and students.

★How to Use ROHM Theatre Kyoto
This orientation session is designed for people considering hiring a space at ROHM Theatre Kyoto for an event. Staff will provide information on the facilities and answer questions.
