Celebrating ROHM Theatre Kyoto’s tenth anniversary! Two special days of fun for everyone, from children to adults!

At 10th Anniversary Play! Theatre Open Day, the whole of ROHM Theatre Kyoto transforms into a festive space. Enjoy a packed lineup of events suitable for all ages, including traditional performing arts and concerts, opportunities to experience the theatre’s history and future, and talks that provide the chance to think about the purpose of a theatre venue.

This event brings together performers from a wide range of fields, including theatre, dance, music, and performance, all selected through an open call. The commemorative performance celebrates the tenth anniversary of ROHM Theatre Kyoto with those who have been involved with the venue up until now, alongside those who will create its future.

Presented by Kyoto City Higashiyama Youth Activity Center, ROHM Theatre Kyoto (Kyoto City Music Art Cultural Promoting Foundation), Kyoto City
Yuscul (Youth Culture) is an event held by the Kyoto City Youth Service Foundation every autumn at ROHM Theatre Kyoto’s ROHM Square. This time, participants write and draw things based on four themes, which they then paste onto sculptural objects. Out of this emerges logos as well as flower and rainbow designs young people have conceived by expanding on the image of the event.

ROHM Theatre Kyoto 10th Anniversary Kagami-biraku Sake Barrel Opening Ceremony

Celebrate ROHM Theatre Kyoto’s tenth anniversary with the performers appearing in Heritage and Creation: Sanbaso. There is a traditional barrel-breaking ceremony to mark the start of the celebrations, with the sake provided by Matsui Sake Brewery, the only sake brewery in the Sakyo ward of Kyoto.

Architecture Exhibition: 65 Years of Kyoto Kaikan and ROHM Theatre Kyoto

Kyoto Kaikan opened in the Okazaki area of Kyoto in 1960. It underwent a major renovation in 2016, reopening as the ROHM Theatre Kyoto. This exhibition traces the history of the venue while rediscovering its architectural appeal by displaying valuable documents from the time of its original construction and comparing its past and present appearances through photographs and more.
