Two packed days of fun and play at ROHM Theatre Kyoto!

ROHM Theatre Kyoto’s annual summer program of events and activities for kids returns!
From orchestra concerts, rakugo, and performances to backstage tours, opportunities to try a musical instrument, workshops, markets, and more, Play! Theatre has something for everyone. Spend all day at the theatre enjoying the various activities on offer. Another three-day workshop lets you experience what it’s like to work in a theatre.
Whether you’re a young infant or grown-up, ROHM Theatre Kyoto transforms into a box of toys for all the family to play with and discover exciting new things.

City of Kyoto Symphony Orchestra Summer Holiday Concert for Ages 0 and Up

This orchestra concert is open to all ages, including babies.
The 2024 concert sees City of Kyoto Symphony Orchestra collaborate with acclaimed children’s book author tupera tupera.

Theatre Cruise Train Mega Performance

Take a journey across various kinds of performance, from pantomime to dance, juggling, and more!

Shimin-yose for Kids: Rakugo Class for Elementary School Students

A special version of the long-running Shimin-yose rakugo event, especially adapted for children and younger audiences.
A great introduction to the comic storytelling art of rakugo, audiences also receive a complimentary booklet (Japanese only) about Kamigata (Kansai) rakugo.

A relaxed and informal salon for interacting with students at Kyoto City University of Arts through music.

Take a tour of the backstage area and then experience what it is like to be a performer stepping out onto the stage.

Sessions (3) and (4) with written guidance for hearing-impaired participants.

『Extreme Hopscotch』Yohaku
Can you master the ultimate game of hopscotch?! The floor of the hall has transformed into a super-difficult game of hopscotch! Will you make it to the other end? Show off your hopscotch skills and become a hopscotch master!

『Ghost Fashion Research Institute』Shie Minamino (OSUSHI / playwright, director, costume designer)
Soft and fluffy clothes. Hairy or smooth clothes. Clothing in all kinds of colors and shapes. Have fun creating and exploring clothing designs in a group. Strange clothes like you’ve never seen before! And they move!
Theatre walk: (1) 1:00–1:15 p.m. (2) 3:40–3:55 p.m.

『Strange Pipes: Join Them Together and Play』Ryo Watanabe
Pick up the pipes, join them together, and then try blowing into them. How long will you make yours? Where will yours bend? Discover the unexpected when you join the pipes together.

Workshop: Make a Duckling Puppet!

Use everyday materials like thread to make a little duckling with flapping wings.

Pay a visit to the toy hospital, where “doctors” are waiting to repair your broken toys! Watch your toys being repaired and restored to working condition.

Only for toys that are easy for children and elementary school students to carry. Powered flying or shooting toys not accepted (toy guns, drones, helicopters).

"Waku Waku" Workshop and marché

This event features workshops and market vendors for children.
